Have you ever had a hard time reading a book or a bill? You may be suffering from presbyopia.
Presbyopia is the loss of the ability of the eye to change focus, such as from far to near, because of the age-related thickening and hardening the eye crystalline lens. The problem usually becomes noticeable around age 45. On this site you will see descriptions of different types of procedures and artificial lenses for correcting presbyopia. Our goal is to provide you with accurate and balanced information about their benefits and risks, and to help you understand the different options for managing your vision.
These technologies are a viable option for some patients, but certainly not all. Are you a candidate? What is a typical eye exam used in pre-operative testing like? What are realistic expectations for those considering surgery? Please bear in mind that decisions about which procedure is best for you should be made in consultation with your ophthalmologist. During this time, your vocational vision needs and your personal preferences should be considered and discussed.
